Terms & Conditions
The agreement between you and Liquor Cabinet
These terms set out what you can expect from the Liquor Cabinet app and website, what we expect from you, and where each of us stands if something goes wrong — written in plain language, alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle your personal information specifically.
Last updated 11 September 2026
Note: the referral program described in Section 15 is built into the App but not yet switched on.
01
Acceptance of these terms
These Terms & Conditions (these "Terms") govern your access to and use of the Liquor Cabinet mobile application (the "App"), our website at liquorcabinet.com.au (the "Website"), and any related services (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
If you're using the Service on behalf of a business — for example, claiming a distillery listing — you're confirming you have the authority to bind that business to these Terms, and "you" in Section 7 refers to that business as well as you personally.
02
Who we are
The Service is operated by James Farrer, trading as Liquor Cabinet ("we", "us", "our"), ABN 97 751 533 840, of New South Wales, Australia.
03
Eligibility & your account
Liquor Cabinet catalogues and discusses alcoholic beverages, so a customer account is only available to individuals who have reached the legal drinking age in their jurisdiction (18 years in Australia). We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and check it automatically before your account is created — attempting to falsify it is a breach of these Terms.
The Website, including its launch list, is also intended only for people of legal drinking age. You don't need an account to browse the Website or join the launch list.
You can create an account with an email address and password, or by signing in with Apple, Google, or Facebook. Either way, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your login credentials confidential, and tell us promptly (Section 18) if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- Take responsibility for activity that happens under your account, except where it results from our own failure to keep the Service reasonably secure.
- Use one account per person — accounts are personal to you and aren't transferable.
04
The Service
Liquor Cabinet helps you catalogue your bottle collection, log what's in stock, identify a bottle by photo, and discover and browse distilleries around Australia (including a Passport of the ones you've visited or collected from). We may add, change, remove, or limit access to any feature at any time, including ones described here, and we'll try to give reasonable notice of a change that removes something you rely on.
We don't guarantee the Service will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or free of faults — see Section 13.
Our Website
The Website introduces the App before and after its release. Please keep the following in mind when you use it:
- Illustrative imagery. The phone screens on the Website are illustrations of the App, and the video and photographs (including the cabinet, bottles, distillery and cellar door scenes) were created with AI tools. They show the kind of experience the App offers; they aren't photos of real products, real distilleries, or anyone's actual collection.
- Distillery map and counts. The distillery map and numbers on the Website come from our own research into Australian distilleries. They may be incomplete or out of date, and a distillery appearing there doesn't mean it has partnered with, listed with, or endorsed Liquor Cabinet.
- Launch list. Joining the launch list doesn't create an account, reserve anything, or commit you to buying anything. It only means we'll send you one email when the App is available, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
05
AI-generated content
When you scan a bottle, we send the photo to a third-party AI model to identify the product. AI identification is a best guess, not a guarantee — it can misidentify a product, or get details like ABV, volume, or ingredients wrong, especially for an unusual bottling, a private release, or a damaged label.
Always check the identified details against the bottle's own label before relying on them — particularly if you're tracking alcohol content for health reasons, managing an allergy, or otherwise need the information to be exact. We're not liable for a decision you make based on an AI-identified detail that turns out to be wrong; if you spot one, we'd appreciate you correcting it in the App or letting us know (Section 18).
06
Content you submit
Most of what you add to Liquor Cabinet — your inventory, ratings, notes, and photos — is private to your account, and you can edit or delete it at any time within the App. You keep ownership of it; you're just granting us the licence we need to store it, display it back to you, and (only where the feature is explicitly public, below) show it to other users.
One part of the App is intentionally public: if you log where you bought a bottle and what you paid, that price is shown to every other user browsing that product, credited to no one by name. This crowdsourced pricing is only useful if it's accurate, so please only report a real price you actually paid — we may remove a listing we believe is false, and repeated bad-faith reporting is a breach of these Terms. Reported prices aren't something you can edit or withdraw yourself once submitted; contact us (Section 18) if one needs correcting.
You're responsible for anything you submit to the Service. Don't submit anything that's illegal, infringes someone else's rights (including copyright in a photo that isn't yours), or is defamatory, harassing, or deliberately misleading. We don't currently offer an in-app way to report content from another user — if you come across something that shouldn't be there, contact us directly (Section 18) and we'll look into it.
07
Distillery & business accounts
If you represent a distillery, you can submit a claim to manage its listing. We review claims before approving one, but — beyond the information you give us — we don't independently verify that you're authorised to represent the business you're claiming. By submitting a claim, you're confirming that you are.
Only one approved claim is active per distillery at a time. Once approved, you're responsible for keeping that listing's information, photos, and product details accurate and lawful — the same content rules in Section 6 apply to anything you upload. We may reject a claim, or revoke an approved one, at our discretion — including if we come to believe it was made in error, in bad faith, or the person or business is no longer connected to that distillery.
08
Subscriptions & purchases
Most of Liquor Cabinet is free to use. A subscription is required to scan or manually add more than 3 bottles to your cabinet, and to use the interactive distillery map — every other feature is free.
- Purchases are billed and processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, under whichever payment method is attached to your store account — we never see or store your card details.
- A subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period at the price shown at the time, unless you cancel before it renews. You can cancel any time from your device's App Store or Play Store account settings; cancelling stops future billing but doesn't refund the current period.
- New subscriptions include a free trial; its length and terms are shown before you start it, and you won't be charged until it ends, unless you cancel first.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not directly by us, except where you're entitled to one under the Australian Consumer Law (see Section 13).
- Prices and plan details shown on our Website are a guide only. The price, currency and trial terms that apply to you are the ones shown in the App Store or Play Store when you purchase.
09
Drink responsibly
Liquor Cabinet is a cataloguing and discovery tool, not a source of health or medical advice, and nothing in the App is a recommendation to drink alcohol or to drink more of it. You're responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you around purchasing, possessing, and consuming alcohol, and for drinking within your own limits.
If your own or someone else's drinking is a concern, the National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline (1800 250 015, free and confidential, 24 hours a day) can help.
10
Acceptable use
Alongside the content rules in Section 6, you agree not to:
- Use the Service if you're under the legal drinking age, or to help someone else circumvent that restriction.
- Impersonate another person or business, including falsely claiming a distillery listing.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the App's or Website's underlying data or code beyond what's needed for your own personal use of the Service.
- Submit someone else's email address to the launch list without their permission, or submit addresses in bulk or by automated means.
- Interfere with the Service's normal operation, including attempting to bypass rate limits or security controls.
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose, or in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it for other users.
11
Intellectual property
The Service — including its design, code, and the "Liquor Cabinet" name and the names of features within it (Cabinet, Discover, Passport, My Collection) — belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms don't grant you any right to use our branding, and using the Service doesn't give you any ownership over it beyond the personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it as intended.
Distillery and product information not submitted by you belongs to the relevant distillery or rights-holder. You keep ownership of content you submit, subject to the licence described in Section 6.
12
Third-party services
Some of what the Service does relies on other companies' platforms — mapping and place search (Google), sign-in (Apple, Google, Facebook), and the App Store or Play Store you downloaded the App from. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms, which we don't control. Links to a distillery's own website, booking page, or social profile take you outside the Service entirely; we don't review, endorse, or take responsibility for where they lead.
13
Disclaimers & liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee that distillery information, product details, AI-identified bottle data, user-reported prices, or information on our Website are accurate, complete, or current — see Sections 5 and 6 for why, and please verify anything that matters before relying on it.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't lawfully be excluded. To the extent the law does allow it, our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee is limited, at our option, to re-supplying the Service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.
Beyond that, to the maximum extent the law allows, we're not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount (if any) you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
14
Termination
You can stop using the Service, or permanently delete your account, at any time from within the App (Settings → Account → Delete account) — see our Privacy Policy for exactly what that removes.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if we reasonably believe your account is being used unlawfully or fraudulently, or otherwise at our discretion with reasonable notice where practical. Sections that by their nature ought to survive termination — including Sections 11, 12, 13, and 16 — continue to apply after your account ends.
15
Referral program
We've built, but haven't switched on in the App, a referral program that would let you earn a share of a friend's subscription if they sign up using your code. Before we turn it on, we'll publish the program's specific rules (eligibility, how and when an earning is paid, and what happens to it if either account is later closed) and update these Terms accordingly.
16
Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You and we both submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales. If you think we've done something wrong, please contact us first (Section 18) so we have a chance to sort it out directly before either of us takes further action.
17
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time — to reflect a new feature, a change in the law, or how the Service actually works. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page whenever we do, and for a change that materially affects your rights or obligations, we'll take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention (such as an in-app notice or a notice on our Website) before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
